Welcome to Jim Lutz Music!
Jim Lutz is a New York City area musician and composer who plays trombone, bass guitar, and keyboards. He is currently the trombonist for Beetlejuice 1st National Tour.
Jim's musical journey began at age 4 with his first piano lesson. He loves to make music that helps to tell a story, to stir emotions, and to bring a little bit more beauty into our world.
Jim creates music for clients around the world, and for his YouTube channel, Twitch livestream, and Patreon page. His most recent personal project is called Abundant Living and was created in response to the devastating effects of the Covid-19 pandemic. Other current/recent work includes Circus Smirkus, Beginnings Chicago Tribute Band, and Brian Kirk & the Jirks.
Originally from central Michigan, Jim has appeared on stages, in recording studios, and in broadcast media in dozens of cities around the world including London, Paris, Tokyo, Los Angeles, and of course New York. His credits include four Cirque du Soleil productions, two Disney parks with numerous ensembles, and the TONY® and EMMY® award-winning production “Blast!”
Jim earned a master's degree in jazz studies at the University of Southern California while serving as a teaching assistant. He also earned a bachelor's degree in music education from Central Michigan University.
Jim is part of the Twitch music community, where he performs as an improvising one-man band and loop artist. Jim plays trombones, keyboards, bass guitar, percussion, beatboxing, and more. Also, he tells dad jokes, plays The Lick, and quotes Snarky Puppy way too much.
